New Law Allows 15 Year old Teens to get Instructional Permit
What You Need To Know
-
Under a new law, teens can get a driver instruction permit when they turn age 15
-
The minimum age for such a permit used to be 15 and a half
-
The law also increases the required behind-the-wheel driving hours from 30 to 50 hours
-
Teens still need to be at least age 16 to get a driver license

Under 18 - How to get your driver's License
Drivers under the age of 18 who have completed driver education, behind the wheel training, and 30 hours of supervised driving may qualify for a road test waiver.

Wisconsin teens won't be allowed to waive behind-the-wheel road tests anymore, DOT says
Starting January 1, 2024, drivers under 18 will again need to complete an in-person road test at the DMV in order to obtain their probationary license. Appointments for a road test can be scheduled 11 weeks in advance at wisconsindmv.gov/roadtest.rs
